Navaratri is one of the most prominent festivals of India and is celebrated with great vigor and enthusiasm. Not many know that Navratri is observed during four different periods of the year, namely the ‘Vasanta Navratri’, ‘Ashad Navratri’, ‘Sharad Navratri’ as well as ‘Pausha Navratri’. The tenth day also is known as the Vijaya Dashami, when the effigy of the demon king Raavan is burnt, signifying the victory of good over evil. Even the idols of Goddess Durga are immersed in water bodies, on the same day.
